I have been drawing photorealistic artwork since I was 14, but took a long hiatus sometime between then and now. Partly because there was too much going on, partly because I simply forgot that I used to draw. In 2008, I got back into it, and am looking forward to creating more drawings in the years to come!
My main inspiration are, of course, human faces - I think they are incredibly fascinating... the different textures, shapes, curves, light-fall-off, expressions... I honestly never get tired of them.
As you may have guessed, photorealism is done by looking at a photo, rather than the real person sitting in front of the easel for dozens of hours ;-) The neat thing is that now - in contrast to when I was a teenager - I have the camera equipment to be able to take those photos myself. That means I can now create photorealism from scratch, and I am also able to freely exhibit, reproduce, sell, take into commission... you name it... a lot of fun!
If you are interested in having your portrait (or that of your loved one) done as a photorealistic drawing, I'd love to hear from you! Next to portrait photography and drawings, I also offer wedding photography, soooo--- especially if you like hiring people with lots of attention to detail and the drive to get it right, give me a call!
